I swore once I'd bought my DSLR, I'd never go back to a compact. I wanted to be professional, and professionals don't use compact cameras. Do they?
My Canon Mark II coupled with my Canon 70-200mm lens makes for quite a heavy load to carry around, once I've packed my camera bag with water, phone, keys, purse, umbrella, and anything else I need on the day. Many a time I've returned from a shoot with an aching back from lugging it around. Plus, it can be quite conspicuous. And let's face it, the quality is waaaaaay better than anything a compact can produce.
But after one sore back too many, I started considering exactly what I was doing with my images. Apart from client images (that will only EVER be shot with my Mark II), I usually only upload images to various online sites, and print photo books. I began to wonder: could a compact be a suitable option?
And now I have all my shooting needs covered.
